With a manpower of more than 55 academics and more than 45 years of history, the Department of Computer Science at the University of Bucharest is one of the largest, strongest, and longest-established computer science departments in Romania, whose strong foundations were laid by computer pioneer Grigore Moisil.
We taught and mentored many generations of CS students, who went on to contribute to the thriving local and global tech sector. Our alumni founded some of the most successful IT companies in Romania (Bitdefender, UiPath). We boast a modern and first-rate curriculum, offering bachelor programmes in computer science as well as computers and information technology followed by master programmes in artificial intelligence, data science, natural language processing, cybersecurity and applied logics, databases and software technologies, distributed systems, and software engineering.
We also perform research in exciting areas of computer science, blending theoretical topics in algorithms, logics, and formal methods with the latest trends in the industry such as state-of-the-art artificial intelligence and cybersecurity. We do not do this alone as we constantly collaborate on challenging projects with peer scientists from Romania and abroad and also with senior practitioners from R&D departments of companies. We are also proud of our talented PhD students, who regularly present their results in top-tier international conferences.
